NEW YORK’S WORKERS’ COMPENSATION SYSTEM MUST COVER ESSENTIAL WORKERS

It seems clear that the state’s workers’ compensation system should cover those essential workers who become ill and even die due to COVID-19 since the system’s purpose is to protect workers who are injured or become ill on the job. But that may not be the case.

On June 1, one of our partners, Sanjai Doobay published an editorial in Newsday discussing what our state officials can do to help ensure that these workers are not only applauded for what they do but that they are properly protected for doing so.
