Steven Rhoads graduated, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany (1991) and Hofstra University School of Law (1994) and joined Grey & Grey in January 2006. Steve is the former Deputy Bureau Chief of the Nassau County Attorney’s Bureau of Tort and Civil Rights Litigation, and is an attorney in the personal injury department obtaining nearly 25 million dollars in settlements and/or verdicts for our clients.

 

In addition to his legal work, Steve is an Ex-Captain of the Wantagh Volunteer Fire Department, where he has served since 1992, spending nine of those years as a line officer of Engine and Rescue Company 5.  Steve received a Certificate of Merit in 2000 and was recognized by the Nassau County Executive in 2013 for his work with the Department in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.  Steve is a Vice-Chairman of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots and is a member of Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and many other civic and philanthropic organizations.  Steve has also spent the past 10 years as the youth minister at St. Pius X Parish in Plainview.

On January 1, 2023, Steve was sworn in as a member of the New York State Senate after successfully serving nearly 8 years representing the 19th Legislative District in the Nassau County Legislature. Senator Rhoads represents the 5th Senate District comprised of substantial portions of central and southeast Nassau County and is the Ranking Member on the Senate’s Local Government and Internal Governance committees and is a Member of the Senate’s Labor, Health, Judiciary and Cities I Committees.

Steve was honored with the Louis J. Walker President’s Award by the Police Emerald Society of Nassau County and the AMT Children of Hope Torch of Life Award in 2015; the George M. Estabrook Distinguished Service Award from Hofstra University in 2016; the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award in 2020 and 2022 and was most recently honored for his 30 years of active service to the Wantagh Volunteer Fire Department in 2023.
